A masterpiece epic poem “GLOOMY FATE” (FATE - HARBINGER IN THE TEMPLE OF DOOM) and (CALAMITOUS - MAN vs FATE) by Deaf/Blind orphaned and abandoned war survivor (Nigeria vs Secessionist Republic of Biafra 1967-1970) and 99% “trial and error” self-taught unaided at mainstream primary and secondary schools for 12 years (1970-1982).

Charles Awusin Inko-Tariah worked in a renowned French bank Societe Generale, Lagos, Nigeria 1986-1990 as clerk-typist overcoming 9-12 months of tough fierce obstacles before attending college in Gallaudet University, Washington DC 1992-1993. The poem deals with the theme of fate and its impact on human life. His life journey is marked by immense struggles from being orphaned at 3 months old (March 1966) and surviving the Nigerian-Biafra conflict to enduring personal hardships and many consecutive tragedies.

Awusin delves into the theme of fate - an invisible, inviolable, inexorable and inevitable force that shapes our lives. He portrays fate as both a harbinger of doom and a calamitous adversary casting shadows over our existence. The poem portrays fate as an overwhelming force that seeks to crush the protagonist “Tragic-Hero Awusin" but he refuses to surrender and fights the "all-conquering” entity with unwavering determination for 59+ years ultimately snatching victory over inviolable fate itself.

In the 2nd part (Calamitous - Man vs Fate) Awusin confronts fate head-on depicting a heroic struggle against the overwhelming forces of destiny. Despite being orphaned, abandoned and facing unimaginable challenges, he perseveres for unprecedented 59+ years - a testament to the indomitable human spirit.

This out of the world poem took “Tragic-Hero Awusin" 35-years to compose and perfect, spanning from 1984-2019. His unique journey from orphanhood at 3 months old, surviving brutal war, neglected, self-education at mainstream primary and secondary schools for 12 years without special education to employment in a bank through college and 25-year political prisoner in the United States of America 1994-2018 adds layers of depth to his poetic expression. Tragic-Hero Awusin’s resilience and unending determination to wrestle control of his destiny and pilot it out of where his personal catastrophe ensues shine through, even in the face of a fate worse than death.

Accordingly, it’s a testament to the human spirit’s ability to rise and shine regaining the lost ability to smile from the sheer wreckage of fate even when fate seems insurmountable. The book sells for $20.00 (tax included). He wrote and self-published 3-7 books and can be reached at charles.inko.tariah12@gmail.com (202) 855-3530.
