A Story of Struggle, Courage, and the Unbreakable Human Spirit

Gloomy Fate is more than just a book — it is the voice of a man who has walked through suffering, injustice, and silence… yet chose to turn pain into poetry and darkness into truth.

This website is the official platform dedicated to the work and journey of Charles Awusin Inko-Tariah, a Nigerian writer whose powerful words echo the battles of everyday people.

His storytelling exposes the shadows many are afraid to face, while reminding us that every soul holds the strength to rise.

Mention the epic 60-year battle between man and destiny, redesign his fate and snatching victory over inviolable fate itself even when fate seems insurmountable.

This Sisyphean struggle started in March 1966 when my father passed on unnaturally when I was an infant of just 3 months old followed by the brutal Nigerian internationalized civil war with secessionist Republic of Biafra 1967-1970 involving the 5 world powers and 25 European/African nations that claimed over 1 million lives of children mostly from starvation May 1967-January 1970. Mother cared for 2 years and has abandoned me and elder brother since her remarriage in 1968 to a Nigerian Air Force officer who has served in the war. Severe illness ensued twice only to meet the dreaded fate - a fate worse than death (Deafness which adversely affected Speech and Blindness in left eye at age 4 (1970).

Undaunted by these formidable adversities I have fought gallantly toiled for over half dozen relatives for the sake of sustenance and sponsorship of my primary and secondary education 1970-1982 embarking on “trial and error” self-education unaided for 12 years in mainstream schools without special education with all these unwanted stares, gossip and taunts daily for 22 years (schools, community and Churches).

I attended college at Gallaudet University, Washington DC 1992-1993 which took an unexpected turn for which I went to the “UNDERWORLD” (Federal Penitentiary, Butner, North Carolina for 25-years 1994-2018). I am currently on probation for the past 8 years 2018-2025. March 2026 will mark the 60th year anniversary of the “Mother-of-All-Epic Wars!” (Man vs Fate).

Famous U.S author and mythologist Joseph Campbell has noted my mythical journey in his much acclaimed book “The Hero With A Thousand Faces” (1949)…”The hero (Awusin) ventured forth from the world of common day (Nigeria) into a region of supernatural wonder (America). Fabulous forces are there encountered and a decisive victory is won. (Awusin won against the powerful federal prosecutors after 13-months notorious underground interstate subway arson havoc trial 7/31/98). The hero returns from the mysterious adventure with the power to bestow boon on his fellow man.”

The boon refers to the 8 books including 850-page upcoming “BUTNER FEDERAL PRISON DIARY” (Vol. 1, 2, 3 & 4 each 215 pages) that will be hugely successful and transform lives.

The Rock That Struck the Statue

An Unwritten Journey from Obscurity to a Mountain That Filled the Earth

Biblical Prophet Daniel 2:34-35 has cryptically described my journey about the “where a rock was cut out, but not by hands (without traditional parentage support or teacher’s help).  It struck the statue on its feet of iron and clay and smashed them. 35 Then the iron, the clay, the bronze, the silver and the gold were all broken to pieces and became like chaff on a threshing floor in the summer. The wind swept them away without leaving a trace. But the rock that struck the statue became a huge mountain and filled the whole earth.” (NIV) (950,000 women worldwide contacting Awusin online for relationship).

Legendary, historical and mythological figures like Romulus of Rome, Sargon of Akkad, Biblical Moses, Prophet Muhammad, Perseus of ancient Greek, Horus of ancient Egypt, and Chandragupta Maurya of ancient India were all children of misfortune - either orphaned or abandoned in early childhood who are destined for greatness. Charles Awusin Inko-Tariah is walking in their footsteps…”WHOM THE GODS ENVY MISFORTUNE CAN HAPPEN. WHOM THE GODS WANTS DESTROYED MUST FIRST ATTAIN GREATNESS.” (Gloomy Fate). The hero is an illustrious person mortal indeed but supposed by the populace to partake of immortality and after his death elevated among the gods.

“WHOM THE GODS LOVE DIE YOUNG. WHOM THE GODS ENVY MISFORTUNE CAN HAPPEN. WHOM THE GODS WANT DESTROYED MUST FIRST ATTAIN GREATNESS.”
